Nyl-Glo®
Flags
Since we're so often asked, "What are these fine
quality flags made of?", we thought you'd
appreciate a quote from the manufacturer's catalogue.
(By the way, these are produced by one of the oldest flag
makers in the United States.)
Nyl-Glo–the true "all-weather" flag
fabric, Nyl-Glo is a heavyweight bunting made of 100%
nylon. Its close weave lets it "fly" in the
lightest breeze, assuring a most effective flag
display. It is fast drying and boasts brilliant, fast
colors. Nyl-Glo combines excellent tensile strength
and durability with a lustrous beauty found only in
indoor flags. Without a doubt the best all-around
choice, Nyl-Glo has proven itself in millions of
installations and earned an enviable reputation as
"the most popular flag fabric." Its popular
price makes it an outstanding value, too.
Basically, the nylon has been chemically treated to
resist deterioration due to ultra-violet light (the
colors stay vibrant and resist fading) or to mildew (it
dries rapidly).
Another thing the quote doesn't mention is
that each flag also has a 100% nylon bunting
with solid brass grommets. |
On the 2x3' and larger flags, the
"flying edge" (i.e., the edge that
flaps in the wind) is quadruple lock
stitched to prevent fraying. On many designs,
each stripe of color is individually stitched
and on the US flag, each star is individually
embroidered. |
